13 May
Summary

- Primary and secondary schools invited to join 'Sun Safe' accreditation programs.
- Focus on early awareness and protective behaviours from a young age.

Jersey is enhancing its approach to skin cancer prevention and early diagnosis through new specialist training and educational programmes. Public Health Jersey is collaborating with Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey to roll out a series of initiatives. These efforts are designed to raise public awareness and encourage the adoption of sun-protective behaviours, particularly among young people.
Schools across the island are central to this campaign. Primary schools have been invited to participate in the Sun Safe Schools accreditation scheme. Furthermore, secondary schools are piloting the Sun Safe Secondary Schools program, targeting older students with awareness messages. These combined efforts seek to reduce risk factors and improve the early identification of potential skin changes.
