Carers in Jersey have benefited from over 300 emotional and practical support sessions in the first six months of a new partnership. The Carer Support Service, a collaboration involving The Listening Lounge, Dementia Jersey, Focus on Mental Illness, and Jersey Eating Disorders Support, began its operations in November.
This initiative, funded by a three-year contract awarded to The Listening Lounge in 2025 by Health and Care Jersey, offers a range of support. These include mental health first aid training, Caring for Carers courses, and social activities designed to enhance wellbeing and combat isolation.
The program aims to acknowledge the vital contributions of individuals supporting loved ones with mental health challenges. It encourages carers to identify their role, access available support, and feel appreciated for their daily efforts. Since its inception, 24 carers have registered for personalized one-to-one peer support sessions.
