A young man's life has been dramatically altered following extensive surgery to correct a severe underbite that plagued him for years. Luke McLuckie, 24, from Manchester, experienced years of self-consciousness and cruel comments due to his prominent lower jaw, which jutted out significantly.
In July of this year, Luke underwent a complex five-hour operation to realign his jaw. The procedure involved moving his top jaw forward by 11cm and his bottom jaw back by 4mm. This transformation, while medically necessary, led to a challenging recovery period, including weeks on a liquid diet and managing sharp nerve pain.
Four months post-surgery, Luke is virtually unrecognizable, with friends taking time to place him. He now radiates newfound confidence and is determined to advocate for greater awareness of the profound mental and physical impact of facial deformities, encouraging empathy and support for those affected.
