Singer Jack Semple's Brave Battle Against Brain Tumor

Regina's own Jack Semple, a celebrated singer-songwriter, has spoken out about his recent health crisis. Semple began experiencing symptoms last July, initially attributing his back pain to arthritis. However, as his condition worsened, impacting his balance and coordination, he sought medical attention. Facing a potential year-and-a-half wait for diagnosis in Canada, Semple's family made the difficult decision to take him to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

There, scans revealed a brain tumor in the 58-year-old artist, prompting immediate surgical intervention. Semple described the surgeons as "geniuses" and, while acknowledging the procedure's risks, felt encouraged that a tumor was the diagnosis. Just hours after the surgery, he showed positive signs of recovery, regaining movement in his left arm and leg.

Semple expressed immense gratitude for his family's support, highlighting the significant financial burden of his treatment. Despite the challenges, he remains optimistic, sharing that he is already able to play the guitar and ukulele again. He is currently focused on relearning to walk, a process he anticipates will be a "long haul," but is determined to return to performing live shows, possibly by the fall.
