Influencer Dies After Penile Filler in Bangkok Clinic

Thai authorities are investigating a clinic in Bangkok following the death of British influencer Igho Ubiribo, aged 43. Ubiribo passed away on March 6, several hours after receiving a penile filler injection. The Ministry of Public Health has tasked the Department of Health Service Support and the Food and Drug Administration with examining the clinic and the treatment provided.

Officials are scrutinizing the clinic's licensing and adherence to safety protocols. Management stated Ubiribo had undergone five penile enlargement procedures since 2024, with the latest involving 40ml of hyaluronic acid filler on March 5. Ubiribo reportedly requested the full amount be injected in one session, against the doctor's advice.

Ubiribo collapsed during a massage later that day, complaining of chest pain. Medical staff attempted resuscitation after he became unresponsive at a hospital, but he could not be revived. A UK coroner's inquest found his death resulted from complications linked to the injection and a pulmonary embolism.

The inquest findings have reignited focus on Thailand's significant medical tourism sector. The case will also be reviewed by the Medical Council of Thailand to determine if professional standards were met. The investigation seeks to assure both local and international patients of Thailand's commitment to safe, high-quality healthcare.
