Summary
- Nandlal Pal, 70, died from suspected contaminated tap water consumption.
- His son believes his condition rapidly declined after drinking tap water.
- Indore, a seven-time cleanest city awardee, faces a diarrhoeal outbreak.

In Indore, a city renowned for its cleanliness, a tragedy has unfolded due to suspected contaminated drinking water. Nandlal Pal, aged 70, passed away earlier this week after a sudden decline in health, marked by severe vomiting and diarrhoea. His grieving son, Siddharth Pal, firmly believes that his father's health deteriorated significantly after consuming tap water.
The city, which has consecutively won India's cleanest city award seven times, is now grappling with an acute diarrhoeal outbreak in the Bhagirathpura locality. While official figures are being verified, affected families claim the number of fatalities is higher than reported. The crisis has left residents in distress, facing not only health concerns but also mounting debts and a pervasive sense of fear.
Despite the gravity of the situation, Siddharth Pal mentioned that no government officials have visited the family to offer condolences or support. The community is now resorting to fetching water from distant borewells, highlighting the urgent need for safe and accessible drinking water solutions in the affected areas.
