India is achieving remarkable success in combating malaria, filariasis, and kala-azar, diseases that once impacted millions. Over the past decade, malaria cases and deaths have decreased by over 80%. Drug consumption for filariasis reached 96% in 2025, with a unified mass drug administration campaign proving effective.

States like Uttar Pradesh and Odisha exemplify successful elimination efforts. However, experts caution against complacency, referencing the unfinished polio eradication and ongoing leprosy cases in India. Sustained vigilance, consistent screening, and diligent reporting by the medical community are crucial to prevent setbacks. Addressing hidden cases in remote areas and strengthening entomological surveillance are vital next steps.

Climate variability presents new challenges, requiring adaptable strategies and dedicated professionals in entomology. Community vigilance, recognizing symptoms early and seeking timely care, remains essential, particularly in underserved regions.
