India is facing a growing need for specialized and integrated elder care models due to its aging population. Experts emphasize the importance of building capability, collaboration, and a continuum of care to meet these evolving healthcare demands.
A significant geriatrics conclave, the third edition of the Asia Pacific Geriatric Oncology Society (AGOS) meeting, was recently held in Coimbatore. This two-day event convened over 200 clinicians, including geriatricians, oncologists, and physicians from India and abroad.
Themed 'From Frailty to Function,' the conclave featured scientific sessions and discussions on critical areas such as frailty management, dementia care, geriatric rehabilitation, and palliative care. Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and emerging technologies for elderly care were also key discussion points.
Innovations in elder care were showcased at the Gero Technology Showcase, featuring age-tech, assistive devices, remote monitoring, and AI-led solutions. This platform facilitated interactions between startups, established companies, and clinicians, fostering collaborations to improve elderly well-being.
