India to Become Global Medical Tourism Hub

India is making significant strides to become a global manufacturing hub for biopharmaceutical and ayurveda drugs. In a move to bolster medical tourism, the Finance Minister announced plans for five Regional Medical Hubs nationwide, to be established in partnership with the private sector.

These hubs will function as integrated healthcare complexes, combining medical services, education, and research. They will feature AYUSH centers, Medical Value Tourism Facilitation Centres, and essential supporting infrastructure for diagnostics and rehabilitation, creating numerous employment opportunities.

Additionally, three new branches of the All India Institute of Ayurveda will be established, and Ayush pharmacies will be upgraded. The World Health Organization's Global Traditional Medicine Centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, is also slated for an upgrade to promote evidence-based research and awareness in traditional medicines.
