Dengue Surge Prompts Hyderabad Health Alert
4 Jul
Summary
- Dengue surveillance intensified across GHMC due to rising cases.
- Health officials mandated daily IHIP portal checks for accuracy.
- Mobile camps and fever clinics to target high-risk GHMC localities.

Health authorities have significantly ramped up dengue surveillance and control efforts across the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) due to a notable increase in reported cases.
Officials were directed to conduct daily verifications of dengue case entries on the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) portal. This ensures accurate patient details and timely correction of any duplicate or incorrect entries within 24 hours, crucial for effective case tracing.
To combat the spread, mobile health camps and fever clinics are being established this week in GHMC's high-risk neighborhoods. These initiatives will provide fever screening, diagnostic tests, medical consultations, and vital public awareness on preventing mosquito-borne diseases.
Targeted vector control measures, including larval source management, entomological surveillance, and fogging, will be executed by GHMC and Metropolitan Surveillance Unit entomologists. Community teams will also actively promote household source reduction strategies and distribute larval control kits.
The department emphasized that these camps will prioritize vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, infants, the elderly, and individuals with co-morbidities. Severe cases identified will be promptly referred to nearby hospitals for advanced care.
