Summary
- Hull hospitals ranked lowest in national NHS league table.
- Health secretary announced a program to improve performance.
- £3.5 million expansion for Hull's Community Diagnostic Centre.

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has been targeted for a turnaround program, having been ranked 134th out of 134 acute trusts by NHS England. This critical assessment places the trust, which operates Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital, at the bottom of the national league table. Health Secretary Wes Streeting expressed his commitment to seeing service improvements, noting that the plan involves both increased investment and dedicated support for leadership to rectify the situation.
The NHS league table, updated quarterly, evaluates trusts based on patient safety, financial health, and access to services. A trust spokesperson acknowledged the challenges faced have been long-standing. In parallel with the turnaround efforts, Mr. Streeting announced a significant £3.5 million expansion for Hull's Community Diagnostic Centre. This expansion will introduce an additional MRI scanner and audiology services to the facility, which already offers various diagnostic tests and services. Further investment was also confirmed for a Community Diagnostic Centre in Grantham, Lincolnshire.
