- An investigation has been launched into the hospital's practices.

Health officials have initiated an investigation into Inverell Hospital in northern New South Wales following the tragic deaths of an elderly couple. Margaret Wing, 64, and Steven Jackson, 76, reportedly passed away from Influenza A within two days of each other, allegedly after being denied medical attention at the facility.
Their daughter, Mandy Wing, stated that her mother called the hospital seeking help for her and her father, who were both unwell. She was allegedly informed that no doctors were available until Monday, November 17. Tragically, the couple were found unresponsive at their home two days later by their grandson.
The Hunter New England Local Health District has confirmed they are reviewing the circumstances and have contacted Ms. Wing. While acknowledging that NSW public hospitals do not turn away patients needing urgent care, the family was reportedly not informed of alternative options like virtual care or transfer to a nearby hospital until after their parents' deaths.
