Summary
- Over 3,500 cases of Horizon Organic chocolate milk recalled.
- Packaging integrity issue led to a Class II FDA recall.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a significant recall affecting over 3,500 cases of Horizon Organic Chocolate Organic Lowfat Milk. The recall was initiated due to compromised packaging integrity in the milk cartons.
Horizon Organic Dairy initially issued the recall on March 11. The FDA subsequently classified it as a Class II recall on May 5. This classification signifies that consuming the recalled milk might lead to temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.
The affected product consists of shelf-stable eight-ounce cartons of Horizon Organic's Organic Lowfat Chocolate Milk Box with DHA Omega-3, available in six- and 18-packs. Distribution of this specific product was limited to four states: Arizona, California, Nevada, and Oregon. Fortunately, no other Horizon Organic products are involved in this recall.
While the exact nature of the packaging defect has not been disclosed by either the FDA or Horizon Organic, the Class II recall status advises consumers against drinking the affected milk. Consumers who have purchased the recalled product should refrain from consumption.
