Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu initiated Himachal Pradesh's state-level HPV vaccination campaign on Saturday from IGMC Shimla. This campaign aims to administer the HPV vaccine to 65,000 girls aged 14 across the state within the next 90 days, a crucial step in preventing cervical cancer.
The CM emphasized the importance of public awareness and parental involvement, urging all stakeholders to support the campaign's success. He highlighted the government's commitment to tackling the rising cancer cases through a strategy called 'Vyavastha Parivartan'.
Significant healthcare infrastructure development is underway. A state-of-the-art cancer hospital will be established in Hamirpur for ₹300 crore, aiming to provide affordable and accessible treatment within Himachal Pradesh. Furthermore, advanced medical technology and world-class equipment will be installed in IGMC and all state medical colleges within eight months.
Over the next three years, modern facilities akin to AIIMS will be extended to zonal hospitals, PHCs, and CHCs. The government also plans to foster health tourism in five years, expecting to spend ₹3,000 crore on high-end medical equipment. Robotic surgery is being rolled out, with facilities planned for all five medical colleges, following launches at AIMSS Chamiyana and Tanda Medical College.
