HHS Cuts Millions to Pediatric Group Over Vaccine Policy

The Department of Health and Human Services has cut millions in grant funding to the American Academy of Pediatrics, intensifying a dispute related to vaccine policy. Seven grants supporting vital initiatives such as sudden infant death reduction and early autism identification were terminated by HHS.

The American Academy of Pediatrics, alongside other medical organizations, previously sued HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in July over actions critics claim undermine vaccine confidence. This legal action followed significant changes to vaccine advisory committees and shifts in vaccine guidance.

An AAP spokesperson indicated that the group is considering all options, including further legal recourse. They warned that the abrupt loss of these funds will negatively impact infants, children, and families nationwide, highlighting the critical services these grants provided.
