AI Diagnoses: Health Tech Revolutionizes State Hospitals
8 Mar
Summary
- Eighteen innovators' medical technologies are being tested in government hospitals.
- Technologies include AI diagnostics, remote care, and non-invasive tools.
- Pilot tests aim to confirm diseases faster and improve patient treatment.

Eighteen innovators are showcasing advanced medical technologies designed to enhance healthcare delivery in state government hospitals. This initiative, stemming from the MedTech Innovation Challenge launched in November 2025, saw 297 applications, from which 18 were shortlisted for developing solutions across five key categories: AI-powered diagnostics, point-of-care testing, smart monitoring, remote care, and non-invasive technologies.
Currently, a pilot phase is underway, testing 40 distinct technologies in government hospitals across multiple cities including Visakhapatnam, Anantapur, and Vijayawada. These innovations are expected to significantly reduce the time needed for disease confirmation, thereby improving treatment efficacy and saving valuable patient time.
Some of the demonstrated technologies include AI for cervical cancer screening, TB detection via cough analysis, and identification of heart diseases, anemia, and neurological disorders. Following the conclusion of these pilot tests, a comprehensive report will be submitted to the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, by the Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare. A special committee comprising AI specialists and health experts will review and recommend these applications.
