Haryana is set to significantly enhance its HIV and syphilis screening efforts. As part of a revised approach, the state aims to conduct approximately 12 lakh dual HIV-syphilis tests each year. This initiative targets nearly 6 lakh pregnant women for 2025-26, with an expanded scope to include spouses, to eliminate vertical transmission.
A secure web-based platform for voice messages and SMS alerts for people living with HIV has been approved. Furthermore, a second HIV viral load laboratory will become operational in Panchkula within a month, relieving pressure on the existing facility in Rohtak.
To support these efforts, an HIV/AIDS action plan of ₹47.16 crore for the 2026-27 financial year has been approved. Four new CD4 machines have been installed in various districts, and additional CD4 labs are proposed to improve diagnostic capabilities and reduce turnaround times.
