A crucial annual action plan for 2026-27, with an outlay of ₹11.60 crore, was approved. This plan aims to enhance blood services through the procurement of blood bags and testing kits, deployment of mobile collection vans, and expansion of component separation units.
Further bolstering patient care, a proposal of ₹54.14 crore will be sent for approval. This funding is earmarked for anti-haemophilia therapy and iron chelation medicines for patients suffering from blood disorders. Currently, 1,019 haemophilia patients and 2,443 thalassemia patients are registered and receive comprehensive support, including free treatment and a ₹3,000 monthly financial assistance.
The state boasts 154 blood centres, with many offering advanced services like component separation and platelet apheresis. To further encourage donations, the refreshment allowance for voluntary donors is proposed to increase from ₹50 to ₹100. The Panipat blood centre is also slated for an upgrade to a fully automated unit.
