Haryana Hospitals Mandated to Use Real-Time Medicine Tracking
30 Mar
Summary
- All government hospitals in Haryana must now use a centralized portal for real-time medicine records.
- Doctors must record unavailable outside medicines on OPD slips.
- Advanced diagnostic facilities like CT scan and MRI will be ensured in all district hospitals.
Haryana's government hospitals are set to implement a new system for real-time medicine record-keeping on a centralized portal, as directed by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. This initiative ensures doctors can verify medicine availability within their facilities, significantly reducing the need for outside prescriptions. Any instance of prescribing external medicines must be explicitly noted on the OPD slip, with Chief Medical Officers holding accountability.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of patient care during a high-level review, stressing that medicine shortages will not be tolerated. He mandated the annual empanelment of suppliers and a four-day advance notification of medicine requirements to avoid stockouts. This proactive approach aims to prevent additional expenses for patients seeking treatment within government facilities.
Furthermore, Saini called for the upgrade of healthcare infrastructure across all districts. Advanced diagnostic services, including CT scan and MRI, are to be made available in every hospital. While upgrades are complete in 10 districts, the remaining 12 are expected to be covered shortly to prevent patients from traveling for necessary diagnostics.
