Haryana has significantly expanded its cancer care infrastructure by establishing five new day care cancer centers across the districts of Ambala, Panchkula, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, and Faridabad. These centers aim to decentralize cancer treatment, making it more accessible and affordable for patients by offering services like follow-up chemotherapy, palliative care, and symptom management closer to their homes.
In addition to expanding facilities, the state is intensifying awareness campaigns on cancer risk factors and promoting healthy lifestyles. Screening for common cancers is being conducted at various healthcare facilities, with suspected cases confirmed through advanced diagnostic methods available at district hospitals. The Atal Cancer Care Centre in Ambala Cantt. provides comprehensive services including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgical oncology.
To alleviate financial strain on patients, Haryana offers a free travel facility for patients and their attendants, with over 10,000 travel cards issued in the 2024-25 period. Furthermore, a monthly financial assistance of ₹3,000 is provided to stage III and IV cancer patients with an annual family income below ₹3 lakh, benefiting over 5,800 patients through the SEWA department.
