Harry: Addiction stems from emotional pain, not shame

During their visit to Jordan, Prince Harry and Meghan spent their second day at the National Centre for Rehabilitation of Addicts in Amman. The Duke of Sussex addressed recovering addicts, stating that addiction stems from emotional pain and should not be a source of shame. He urged them to use their experiences to help others in their communities.

The couple toured the facility, which offers a holistic approach including a gym and yoga classes. Meghan observed a yoga session while Harry engaged with men using the gym equipment. The center, established in 2001, operates under the Ministry of Health and provides short-term residential and outpatient treatment.

Both Harry and Meghan wrote messages of support for the individuals undergoing treatment. Harry's message encouraged them to share their courage and experience, while Meghan wished them continued healing and happiness. A World Health Organisation delegation, including its director-general, accompanied the couple on this visit.
