1 Sep
Summary
- A 21-year-old woman died during childbirth due to alleged medical negligence.
- Her family claims she was referred to another hospital without confirmation.
- A protest erupted outside the hospital demanding immediate action.

A tragic incident unfolded late Monday night at Haridwar's Women's Hospital, where a 21-year-old woman passed away during childbirth, though her newborn survived.
Her grieving family has leveled serious allegations of medical negligence against the hospital. They claim that the patient, Renu Das, was referred to AIIMS Rishikesh in a critical state. This referral allegedly occurred without confirming bed availability and despite the Women's Hospital possessing its own ICU facilities.
Following Renu's death, angry relatives and local residents gathered outside the hospital, staging a protest to demand accountability and action from the authorities.
The hospital management stated that Renu was critically ill and died en route to AIIMS Rishikesh. An ASHA worker present at the scene corroborated that blood was arranged urgently, only to be told later it was not needed as Renu was being transferred to AIIMS on a ventilator.
