The Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia is currently hosting the 18th annual Pink Invitational, drawing thousands of gymnasts from across the nation. This significant event is dedicated to raising funds for women battling breast and ovarian cancer. The competition supports Unite for HER, a non-profit organization founded by a breast cancer survivor, which provides vital integrative therapies and services to patients.
Over the last 16 years, the Pink Invitational has amassed over $5.5 million for Unite for HER. These funds directly support services valued at over $2,000 per patient, including access to acupuncture, yoga, massage, and home-delivered fresh produce. The event has grown to become the largest gymnastics fundraising event in the United States, now featuring over 116 teams.
This year's invitational, which continues through the weekend, features approximately 5,000 competing gymnasts. It is anticipated to raise an additional $800,000 for the organization. The event not only raises crucial funds but also instills a sense of sisterhood and emphasizes the importance of health and mental strength in the fight against cancer.
