Gurugram Launches Mass NCD Screening Drive
17 Jan
Summary
- A 60-day NCD screening campaign began January 15 for all adults over 30.
- Daily screening targets 10,000 people across various health facilities.
- Free clot-busting therapy offered for acute ischemic stroke victims.

Gurugram's health department commenced a significant 60-day campaign on January 15, targeting non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, and prevalent cancers like oral, breast, and cervical. The ambitious drive aims to complete NCD screening for the entire population above 30 years by the end of 2026.
Approximately 10,000 individuals will undergo daily screenings at various government health facilities, including primary health centers and hospitals. Non-invasive methods like blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests, and visual oral examinations will be utilized, with referrals for further investigation in complex cases. Dedicated screening camps are planned for corporate offices, government buildings, and residential areas.
Patients diagnosed with NCDs will receive treatment advice, and critically, acute ischemic stroke patients will benefit from free thrombolytic therapy at Civil Hospital, a service costing approximately ₹40,000 privately. Doctors will employ the FAST technique for rapid stroke screening in high-risk patients. This drive follows a period where around 300,000 people were screened between April and December 2025, revealing a 12% diabetes and 23.1% hypertension prevalence.
