Gurugram Hospitals Offer Free Surgeries for Limited Time

In a move to improve access to healthcare, the Gurugram district health department has announced that residents will be able to receive free surgical procedures at government-run hospitals and primary health centers from November 17 to 22, 2025. This initiative is part of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPMJAY) scheme, which provides comprehensive health coverage to economically disadvantaged individuals.

The surgical camps will be set up at the Civil Hospital in Sector 10A, as well as sub-division hospitals in Pataudi, Sohna, and Farrukhnagar. According to Dr. Shalini Chopra, the deputy civil surgeon of Gurugram, the goal is to expedite both pending and new cases, ensuring that patients receive quality healthcare services. Under the ABPMJAY scheme, around 1,300 health benefit packages can be availed for procedures related to general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, urology, burns, and medical oncology.

Hospital staff will verify the eligibility of non-cardholders by checking their identity details in the state database. Patients with Ayushman or Chirayu cards are encouraged to visit the nearest civil hospital to avail the benefits. This initiative is part of a larger campaign announced by the Civil Surgeon (Panchkula), Dr. Mukta Kumar, to clear the backlog of pending surgical procedures.
