Gujarat's Health and Family Welfare Department has seen its budget approved at Rs 25,403.23 crore for the 2026-27 fiscal year, an 8.63% rise from the previous year. This allocation focuses on expanding healthcare services, including support for 9,231 sub-health centres, 1,539 primary health centres, and 353 community health centres.
Significant provisions are made for maternal health, with Rs 12,000 aid for 3.95 lakh pregnant and lactating women under the Namo Shree Yojana. The PMJAY-MA scheme's annual cashless treatment limit has been increased to Rs 10 lakh per family, covering approximately 2,300 medical procedures for about 2.73 crore citizens.
Further enhancements include expanding free laboratory tests and establishing large 'Medicity' projects in Ahmedabad and Surat. New radiotherapy centres and special newborn care units are also planned, alongside upgrading dialysis infrastructure and increasing financial support for TB patients.
