14 Mar
Summary
- Three doctors suspended for misconduct, negligence, and fraud.
- Suspension periods range from six months to one year.
- Cases involved practicing beyond qualifications and forging documents.

The Gujarat Medical Council (GMC) has suspended the medical practice licenses of three doctors in separate incidents. These suspensions, varying from six months to one year, were issued following GMC committee meetings in January and February. The council cited misconduct, misrepresentation of qualifications, and alleged medical negligence as grounds for these actions.
In Ahmedabad, Dr. Bhargav Patel's license was suspended for six months for practicing as an MD (general medicine) with a foreign degree equivalent to MBBS. He is also under investigation for allegedly misusing a gynecologist's GMC license, potentially involving forged documents for LIC empanelment.
Similarly, Dr. Manoj Sida in Rajkot received a six-month suspension for practicing as an MD with a foreign MBBS-equivalent degree. He is also implicated in a case involving suspicious medical records submitted for an insurance claim.
Dr. Akshay Hadiyal, a gynecologist in Gir Somnath, faces a one-year suspension due to medical negligence. Findings include the absence of an anesthetist during surgery, failure to follow post-operative protocols, and non-cooperation with the inquiry. This action follows the deaths of three patients during pregnancy or childbirth at his hospital.
