Gujarat Battles Dengue: Monsoon Prevention Underway
16 May
Summary
- Gujarat enhanced dengue prevention measures before the monsoon season.
- Over two crore locations were visited during house-to-house surveys.
- More than one lakh houses had mosquito larvae destroyed during inspections.

Gujarat has significantly bolstered its dengue prevention and surveillance measures in anticipation of the monsoon season. On National Dengue Day, May 16, the state renewed its commitment to community involvement and public awareness campaigns to combat the spread of the mosquito-borne illness.
During extensive house-to-house surveys conducted from April 27 to May 6, over 23,000 teams visited more than two crore locations. These efforts resulted in the identification and destruction of mosquito larvae in over one lakh houses, alongside the elimination of more than 27 lakh potential breeding sites across the state.
The health department also collected and tested blood samples from approximately 2.56 lakh fever patients as part of surveillance and early detection initiatives. Citizens are urged to take preventative actions such as regularly cleaning water-holding containers and eliminating potential breeding grounds, while also seeking prompt medical attention for dengue symptoms and avoiding self-medication.
