Guernsey Housing Association (GHA) has announced the completion of the La Vieille Plage housing development, a significant new resource for individuals with diverse physical and learning disabilities. This purpose-built facility at L'Islet will provide high-quality accommodation for up to 14 residents.
The development features individual one-bedroom flats, each equipped with a private kitchen and bathroom. Residents will also benefit from shared communal spaces designed to promote social interaction and a strong sense of community. The project included essential staff facilities such as an office, overnight accommodation, and a therapy room.
GHA chief operating officer Lisa de Kooker expressed excitement about residents moving into a space tailored for their needs, emphasizing the goal of fostering independence and improving quality of life. The design meticulously considered each detail to support dignity and ensure care delivery is not limited by the building's structure.
