Contaminated Water Fears Spark Urgent Audit in Greater Noida

Greater Noida's water supply system is undergoing an urgent review following concerns raised by residents falling ill. A high-level technical committee has been formed by the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) to scrutinize pipelines and reservoirs for potential contamination. GNIDA CEO Ravi Kumar N G has issued a stern warning against any negligence in ensuring essential public services, emphasizing accountability.
The committee is tasked with identifying leakages and assessing the purity of drinking water across various sectors. Water samples will be collected and analyzed, with a directive for an immediate report. This move comes after some residents in Noida's Delta 1 area reported symptoms attributed to consuming contaminated water. Acknowledging broader concerns, the review was also prompted by recent deaths in Madhya Pradesh allegedly linked to contaminated water.
During a review meeting, the CEO also pressed for the timely completion of the 80 cusecs Ganga water project by January 2026, which aims to provide treated Ganga water to the entire city. Discussions also covered infrastructure and sanitation, with a dedicated team formed to improve road conditions and a strong directive issued to contractors for expediting pond construction and modernizing sanitation with new machinery.
