Summary

- An agency will collect patient feedback from GMCH and other medical facilities.
- New gazetted notification on nurse conduct to be issued after consulting association.

The Goa government is set to enhance its healthcare services through a novel patient sentiment analysis initiative. This project aims to collect direct feedback from individuals receiving treatment at state-run medical facilities, including the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and district hospitals. An external agency has been appointed to gather these crucial patient inputs.
The health minister stated that the collected feedback will be instrumental in improving hospital facilities and processes. Efforts will be made to reduce patient waiting times, particularly in casualty wards. Furthermore, a new gazetted notification detailing guidelines on the conduct of nurses will be introduced. The government intends to consult the Nursing Association before implementing these guidelines to ensure collaborative development.
Beyond feedback collection, the health department is also focusing on manpower assessment and digitalization. A gap analysis of staff is underway at GMCH and will be extended to other facilities. The government is also progressing towards establishing a paperless hospital system, building upon the existing Health Management Information System at GMCH.
