International Yoga Day saw massive participation in Goa, with over one lakh citizens engaging in celebrations across the state.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, present at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, encouraged daily yoga practice for improved physical and mental health. He described yoga as a way of life promoting harmony and inner strength.
This year's theme, "Yoga for Healthy Aging," focused on yoga's contribution to preventive healthcare and emotional balance. Celebrations were held at 1,230 venues, including those organized by various groups and the sports department.
Notable events included participation from students, staff, and parents at Canacona, and a special observance at Tapobhoomi, Kundaim. Padma Shri Sadguru Brahmeshanand Acharya Swamiji advocated for Goa to be recognized as a "Yoga State."
