Rare Lung Tumor Vanquished in Young Girl
16 Feb
Summary
- Three-year-old girl battled an extremely rare and aggressive lung tumor.
- Doctors switched to aggressive second-line chemotherapy after initial poor response.
- Complete surgical removal and subsequent chemotherapy led to full remission.

A young girl's fight against pleuropulmonary blastoma, an exceptionally rare and aggressive childhood lung tumor, has concluded with a full recovery.
Initially presenting with common cold symptoms, the three-year-old's condition worsened, leading to investigations that revealed a large mass in her chest cavity in January 2025. A biopsy confirmed the aggressive nature of the tumor, which typically responds poorly to treatment.
Her medical team initiated chemotherapy in January 2025. After two cycles showed minimal reduction, a more intensive second-line protocol was employed from March to May 2025. This approach proved more effective.
By June 2025, the tumor had regressed sufficiently for surgical removal. A successful operation was followed by three additional chemotherapy cycles. By August 2025, a PET scan confirmed complete metabolic remission, with no recurrence noted in February 2026.
