A shocking incident involving a cockroach allegedly found in a vegetable dish at Garam Dharam Dhaba in Ghaziabad has resulted in significant trouble for the establishment. Following a viral video and a complaint, officials from the district administration and Food Safety Department conducted an inspection.
During the inspection on Wednesday, alarming conditions were discovered within the kitchen. ADM (City) Vinay Kashyap reported that the deep freezer's bottom was damaged, with small insects observed crawling inside. Significant filth was also noted throughout the kitchen area, prompting serious concerns about hygiene standards.
In response to these findings, food samples including mustard oil, water, paneer, and sauce were collected for testing. The dhaba operator has been issued a notice, and critically, the kitchen has been ordered to remain shut. Reopening is contingent upon rectifying all identified deficiencies and meeting essential food safety standards.
Officials confirmed that the complaint prompting the inspection appeared to be valid, underscoring the gravity of the situation. This action in Ghaziabad mirrors similar food safety crackdowns across other cities, including Mumbai, where several establishments faced license suspensions due to hygiene violations like the presence of live insects and clogged drains.
