Summary
- A GBS patient died from a heart attack after blood pressure spike.
- Health teams are conducting door-to-door monitoring in Nira.
- Water and blood samples collected to rule out contamination.

A patient diagnosed with a severe form of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) died at Bharati Hospital on March 2, approximately a week after experiencing initial symptoms. The patient was admitted after his condition worsened, leading to increased breathing difficulties and a spike in blood pressure, necessitating ventilator support. A sudden further increase in blood pressure resulted in a fatal heart attack.
Following these events, the public health department has initiated surveillance in Nira village. Health teams are conducting door-to-door checks to identify individuals with symptoms. To investigate possible causes, 15 water samples and blood samples from three residents have been collected for testing. Residents are advised to drink boiled water and maintain hygiene, while local hospitals are instructed to report suspected GBS cases immediately.
