Gaya district is set to commence a comprehensive preventive drive against filaria on February 10, 2026. This significant public health initiative focuses on both creating awareness and administering crucial preventive medication to combat the disease.
A mega camp is planned for February 11, 2026, to kickstart the medicine administration process for targeted groups. Health officials aim to reach 44.39 lakh individuals identified across 22 blocks and seven urban primary health centers. The medication will be administered under supervision and only after consumption of food to ensure safety and efficacy.
Over the subsequent two weeks, volunteers will conduct door-to-door visits to administer the preventive medicine to those missed, striving for universal coverage. Special teams and health workers are mobilized, utilizing 3,765 school premises. Children below two, pregnant women, and individuals with severe health issues are excluded from this program.
