Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) has provided a complex, life-saving surgery free of charge to a patient from West Godavari district. This initiative is part of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) 'Sri Venkateswara Pranadanam' scheme, which supports economically underprivileged individuals.
The patient, 17-year-old Y. Venkata Satyavathi, was diagnosed with spinal tuberculosis, leading to paralysis, and subsequently, cancer requiring extensive treatment. Doctors from neurosurgery, CT surgery, and gastroenterology collaborated for the successful removal of a spinal tumor, enabling her to walk again.
SVIMS also announced plans for the next phase of the Pranadanam scheme, selecting 226 patients requiring complex surgeries. These patients, identified as Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, will receive treatment for various critical conditions across multiple departments, including cardiac, neurosurgery, and oncology.
