- Launched by a campaigner living with stage four melanoma.

In Sheffield, the "Sun Safe" project has been introduced across Crookes, providing free sun cream dispensers in shops, cafes, and pubs. This initiative, running throughout August, aims to significantly boost sun safety awareness and educate the public about skin cancer.
The project was spearheaded by Charlotte Killeya, who is living with stage four melanoma. Killeya, diagnosed six years ago, believes her condition might be linked to childhood sunburns. She has been advocating for better sun protection accessibility.
Killeya emphasized that sun cream is a necessary product, not a luxury, and should be as routine as daily hygiene. She noted that a considerable number of Sheffield residents struggle to afford sun protection products. Organizers are optimistic about expanding this scheme to other parts of the city next year.
