Special health camps organized in Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, and Tiruvannamalai districts successfully vaccinated over 800 Haj pilgrims free of charge this past Wednesday. These camps are an annual initiative by the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. They offer comprehensive screening, fitness verification, and essential vaccinations for pilgrims embarking on their journey.
The vaccination drive provided the quadrivalent vaccine against meningitis and oral polio drops. Notably, pilgrims aged over 65 also received the influenza vaccine. Tirupattur district recorded the highest number of vaccinated pilgrims with 320, followed by Vellore with 226, Ranipet with 190, and Tiruvannamalai with 71. These camps are typically held at accessible locations like the Collectorate or district health offices.
