Hyderabad's vulnerable populations, including autorickshaw drivers, cab drivers, and gig workers, can now receive free cataract surgeries. The Helping Hand Foundation (HHF) has launched a program to provide these essential eye treatments for individuals from Below Poverty Line families starting this month. This initiative offers significant financial relief, projected to save patients around ₹90 lakh annually.
The HHF is collaborating with Akbar Multi-Speciality Eye Hospital to perform 50 free surgeries each month, amounting to 600 procedures per year. Beyond cataract treatment, beneficiaries who meet the eligibility criteria can also access a range of other eye care services supported by the State government's Aarogyasri health insurance scheme.
Interested individuals must first undergo a screening at the HHF office. For more information and to schedule appointments, potential beneficiaries are encouraged to contact the provided helpline number. This program aims to enhance vision and improve the quality of life for economically disadvantaged residents.
