To enhance road safety across the nation, Vasan Eye Care Hospital has launched a significant initiative providing 1,000 free cataract surgeries for drivers. This campaign aligns with the observance of National Road Safety Month.
The hospital is also conducting comprehensive eye screening camps specifically for school bus drivers, college bus drivers, and other commercial vehicle operators. This proactive measure aims to address potential visual impairments.
Chief Operating Officer K. Kamal Babu noted a concerning shift in ocular health, where cataracts are no longer exclusively an age-related condition affecting those over 60. Medical professionals are now seeing patients as young as 45, emphasizing the critical need for early detection.
