26 Jul
Summary
- Former MLA was revived after 30 minutes of CPR.
- Severe breathlessness led to sudden cardiac arrest.
- Blood clot, not heart attack, caused the arrest.

In a remarkable display of medical intervention, former BRS MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy was revived after undergoing nearly 30 minutes of continuous cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The incident occurred shortly after his arrival at Rohini Superspeciality Hospital in Hanumakonda district, Telangana, where he presented with severe breathlessness.
Dr. Mamatha Reddy, the cardiologist leading the resuscitation, reported that Mr. Sudarshan Reddy's pulse and blood pressure were undetectable upon arrival. The emergency team intubated him and initiated CPR immediately. Despite the critical condition, the medical team persisted for approximately 30 minutes, completing nine to ten cycles of CPR.
Following the successful restoration of spontaneous circulation, Mr. Sudarshan Reddy was moved to the cardiac catheterisation laboratory. Coronary angiography confirmed normal coronary arteries, ruling out a heart attack. Doctors diagnosed the condition as acute pulmonary thromboembolism, a serious blockage in the pulmonary artery.
This event highlights the critical need for prompt medical evaluation for persistent or severe breathing issues, emphasizing that timely intervention can be life-saving.
