Flu Season Ramps Up in 2025, Experts Urge Vaccination

Of the influenza A viruses, 28.3% were the H1N1 subtype, and 71.7% were the H3N2 subtype. This comes after last year's flu season, which was exceptionally infectious, reaching a 15-year high in the United States.
To protect against the flu, the CDC recommends that everyone aged 6 months and older receive the 2025-2026 flu vaccine, regardless of their health status or underlying conditions. The vaccine is designed to target the influenza A and B viruses that research indicates will be the most prevalent during the upcoming season.
