2 Nov
Summary
- A father of three died months after initially dismissing tiredness.
- He was diagnosed with aggressive acute myeloid leukaemia in July 2025.
- A second round of chemotherapy failed, leading to his death in November.

David Anthony 'Tony' Williams, a 62-year-old father of three, passed away on November 12, 2025, a mere few months after his initial symptoms of fatigue were noticed. In the summer of 2025, Tony began experiencing tiredness, which his family attributed to long working hours and personal stress, including his daughter's medical treatments.
Following a family holiday to Murcia, Spain, Tony's persistent exhaustion prompted his family to encourage a blood test at Croydon University Hospital. The results on July 18, 2025, revealed a diagnosis of acute myeloid leukaemia, an aggressive blood and bone marrow cancer. Tony underwent a challenging four-month chemotherapy regimen, which initially showed positive results.
However, a subsequent, more aggressive round of chemotherapy proved unsuccessful. Tony developed a serious lung infection and a collapsed lung, which prevented him from being eligible for a clinical trial. Doctors informed the family he had limited time left. Sadly, he died just five days after this prognosis, leaving his family to grapple with their profound loss and anger.
His daughter, Zara, is now supporting Blood Cancer UK's Trial Treat Beat initiative. This campaign aims to improve survival rates for aggressive blood cancers through groundbreaking clinical trials, offering more families precious time with their loved ones.
