Family Seeks Anonymous Donor to Save Mom's Life

A Scottish family is appealing for help to find an anonymous stem cell donor from Poland who is crucial for their mother's continued recovery. Lisa Semple, 58, received a life-saving stem cell transplant on October 13, 2025, from a teenager. Her children were not a match, making the unrelated donor essential.

Now, Lisa requires a donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI), which involves infusing healthy white blood cells from the original donor. However, the donor registry has been unable to locate the young man, who is reportedly not responding to inquiries. The family emphasizes they do not wish to identify the donor but urgently need his consent to donate again.

Charlie Semple, Lisa's youngest son, stated that the family is relying on the anonymous teenager to respond to the registry. Stem cell donors are registered anonymously with organizations like DKMS, which operates internationally. The family has contacted the British Embassy in Poland and used social media in their search.

Lisa experienced a difficult recovery after chemotherapy, and her family had to isolate from her. The inability to be a match for their mother was a blow, but seeing her at home now is progress. This situation presents a "wee setback," and finding the donor for the transfusion would be a momentous relief, offering hope for her full recovery.
