Cumin Powder Recalled: Pesticides Found Unsafe
5 Oct
Summary
- Everest Food Products' cumin powder recalled due to unsafe pesticide levels.
- FSSAI found Azoxystrobin and Thiamethoxam exceeding legal limits.
- Creative Bakers and Confectioners license suspended over hygiene issues.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has taken decisive action against two food businesses. Everest Food Products is required to immediately recall its 'Pre-packed Cumin Powder' from the market following laboratory analysis. Regulatory samples detected pesticide residues, including Azoxystrobin and Thiamethoxam, at levels far beyond the permissible maximum limits, leading to the product being declared unsafe.
The FSSAI's stringent action extends to suspending the license of Creative Bakers and Confectioners Pvt Ltd. This suspension is effective immediately and is attributed to significant hygiene deficiencies identified at the establishment. These measures underscore the FSSAI's commitment to upholding strict regulatory compliance and safeguarding public health across India.
