Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has completed a £12.4 million refurbishment of its Endoscopy Unit at the Queen's Medical Centre. This expansion is set to significantly improve the treatment of complex cases across the region, increasing capacity for therapeutic procedures by 50%. This upgrade is projected to benefit around 1,200 additional patients each year, offering them care in an improved and more spacious environment. The new unit features an additional procedure room, enhanced preparation and recovery areas, and dedicated staff facilities. It is designed to streamline patient flow from admission to discharge, ensuring a more comfortable and private experience. Beyond serving local Trust patients, the facility will also accept referrals from surrounding hospitals, becoming a key regional center. Officials anticipate that the focus on therapeutic treatments will alleviate pressure on operating theatres. The unit is expected to begin treating patients at the end of this month.
