Edmonton Crisis Teams Get New Data Dashboard
21 May
Summary
- New dashboard shows where crisis diversion teams respond.
- Data reveals busiest neighborhoods for crisis response.
- Privacy is protected by sharing only aggregated data.
Multiple social agencies in Edmonton have collaborated to launch a new data dashboard, providing transparency on crisis diversion team responses for vulnerable residents. The 24/7 Crisis Diversion initiative, a partnership including Boyle Street Community Services and the Canadian Mental Health Association, unveiled the dashboard on Wednesday.
This new resource details dispatch numbers, locations, services rendered, and diversion outcomes. From January to April, McCauley and the downtown core saw the most dispatches, though calls extended beyond central areas. Over 1,450 individuals received transportation assistance, and more than 300 sought conversations with outreach workers.
The dashboard prioritizes privacy by presenting only aggregated data, safeguarding the dignity of those using crisis services. Representatives emphasize the goal of building community understanding and ensuring the data's relevance for policymakers and future planning.
Public feedback is encouraged to help refine the data shared, assisting policymakers in understanding the crucial role of crisis diversion. The dashboard is accessible to the public at crisisdiversionedmonton.ca.
