Summary
- NHS Humber Health Partnership moves into special measures.
- Unions cite leadership concerns and staff uncertainty.
- Hospitals face long-term challenges in care access and waits.

NHS Humber Health Partnership (HHP) is being placed into special measures by NHS England due to significant challenges. This action means HHP will move into Segment 5 of the National Oversight Framework (NOF), indicating severe performance or governance issues. Unions, including UNISON, have expressed concerns about the interim leadership team, pointing to a constant turnover of senior managers and structural changes that have created uncertainty for staff.
These challenges are not new, with the partnership acknowledging long-term issues concerning access to care, including A&E services and surgical waiting times. Despite efforts to improve, Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) has seen its ranking in NHS England's acute trusts league table decline significantly. While Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLG) has shown improvement, the overall situation has led to the special measures designation.
