Diabetes Advocate Rallies Community on World Diabetes Day

On November 14, 2025, the diabetes community in Denver came together to mark World Diabetes Day. The event, which has been held yearly, was emceed by CBS Colorado's Michael Spencer and aimed to bring awareness and support for those affected by the disease.

One of the key participants was Jordan Keltner, a "Love is Blind" contestant and children's author, who joined the cause to advocate for children living with diabetes, including his own son, Luca. Keltner is the co-author of the "Dear Luca" book series, which reflects the emotions and experiences of his son's type 1 diabetes diagnosis.

"Honestly, it means a lot that I get to come out and support not just my son, but everyone who's experiencing the struggles of this disease," said Keltner. "It's tough to manage, but I'm just happy to be a cheerleader for everyone here."

The event also featured the ASK Screening Program, which offered free health screenings for type 1 diabetes and celiac disease risk markers. Children's Diabetes Executive Director Dana Davis emphasized the importance of the community coming together to support one another, saying, "Diabaddies (those with diabetes), we feel like we go through so much every day, at every age. Maybe 200 decisions extra a day on what we do and how we live. Our Diabuddies are those who help bring, they have our snacks, they have our back."
